I could wax poetic about wedding photography but without a doubt one of the most fun and memorable weddings I've shot was in Crested Butte, Colorado back in 2013. My good friends Adam and Kelly asked me to be their photographer for their mountain resort wedding and I jumped at the chance! I've known Kelly since high school and we both attended Western State College in nearby Gunnison, so Crested Butte seemed like a natural choice for their wedding.

Not only is Crested Butte beautiful as all get out, but they had their wedding on the actual ski area at a venue called Uley's Cabin. Uley's Cabin is a mid-mountain bar and restaurant during the winter and during the summer it is a gorgeous wedding venue. Rachel from Crested Butte Events did a fantastic job with their wedding planning, so the whole event went off without a hitch.

The wedding party and I met up that morning at their hair salon, A Cut Above, and I photographed them getting ready while they got their hair done and sipped mimosas. We then went up to Mt. Crested Butte and continued shooting the preparations, which included an impromptu fire truck photo session and chair lift ride on the Red Lady Express to get to Uley's Cabin. The venue was perfect and though it rained during the ceremony, it was a beautiful and touching wedding! Everyone then headed down to Mountaineer Square and the Grand Lodge ballrooms where the reception was located and celebrated with Kelly and Adam long into the night! It was a great wedding, Crested Butte is the perfect backdrop for anyone's wedding, and of course a great time was had by all!
